The two night fun filled GlamShop fundraiser shopping event and fashion show came to an end yesterday with a good turnout, mostly women of all ages. The event was aptly called “girls’ just wanna have fun” as the ladies did enjoy the outdoor patio shopping spree with a giant screen playing all girls’ favorite movie ‘Sex and the City’ and of course the main highlight was the fashion show debut of a new celebrity line by Rachel Roy.

Rachel Roy is a Manhattan-based fashion designer. Her collection will be available at any Macy’s store in Houston. You can also visit www.rachelroy.com to learn more about her style.

At the fashion show her collection highlighted bright colors, sequined over sized handbags, open toed high heel boots and printed and solid color dresses seemed to be the trend.

Once Upon a Blue Muse Fashion Show

Event: Runway Fashion Show
Venue: Avant Garden, Houston
Date: May, 2009

Coronation Vintage invited Houston fashion lovers for a night showcasing their Vintage Fall ‘09 Collection.

‘Once Upon a Blue Muse Fashion Show’ was inspired by: “The girl who knows clothes”… and incorporates the organic elements of fire, water, and sky!. They started the collection with a palette of fiery orange, golds and mineral browns, taking the audience on a visual journey through fire and earth. Then migrated back to the sea with saturated blues. Finally, the fashion sensibilities were tickled with powder blues, grays and silvers.

It was a packed evening as Houstonians enjoyed a perfect evening of glamour, fine weather and at the same time doing some good, as a portion of the proceeds for the night benefited Planned Parenthood.

The models were provided by Neal Hamil, hair by Cara Crafton of Craft Salon and makeup by Wendy Martin.

A Healthy Mantra | Pooja Batra

For those who claim to be fed scantly with Bollywood films, Pooja Batra is that 5 ft 9 inch ex-Miss India who passed her crown to Aishwarya Rai in 1994. As far as her stint with Indian cinema, she is that ‘Hassena Maan Jayegi’ girl who also acted in the super hit ‘Virasat’ opposite Anil Kapoor.

Presently, the tall flamboyant, model-turned actress Pooja Batra makes Los Angeles cozy with her handsome doctor husband Sonu Ahluwalia. For some, marriage might be a slowing down, but for 20 something Pooja its all a beginning.

Batra also takes a sneak peak at other scripts, while theatre is one of her major preferences. Blessed with the combination of Indian and western beauty, Hollywood might not be too far away from her.

Born in Faizabad, UP, India, Pooja started her career with modeling, typically en vogue while in college. Batra breaks the myth that models cannot act. She said that if models could convey their emotions in a few seconds in an ad that convinced buyers, then three hours was sufficient.

Bikram Choudhury | Global Healer

Spiritual healing is his goal, and the journey has thus begun. Ruchi M meets yoga guru Bikram Choudhury in Beverly Hills.

In America you cannot help but notice Bikram Choudhury’s yoga schools. There’re almost everywhere, helping people to cope with stress, illness and even lonliness. Choudhury, whose humble beginnings, can be traced to Kolkata says, “Yoga is a time tested way to overcome most human ills… when medical science has given up on a person, yoga will help.”

Right from the age of three, Choudhury was perfectly aware of his purpose, beginning lessons under the tutelage of Bishnu Ghosh, brother of Paramahansa Yogananda (founder of the Self Realisation Fellowship in Los Angeles).

For Bikram, his yoga lessons continued even when the family moved to Deogarh, Bihar. He would practice yoga for four to five hours a day, and at the age of 13, won the National India Yoga contest. When just 17, a knee injury during a weight-lifting championship turned out to be enormously distressing as doctors declared that he would never walk again.

Fashion, philanthropy reigned at the Woman’s Hospital of Texas 5th Annual Labor Day Luncheon and Style Show. A sell out crowd gathered on September 6, 2008 at the Westin Galleria Ballroom for the occasion.

Benefiting the March of Dimes, the event offered attendees a peek at fall’s fashion must-haves, goody bags and the best in boutique shopping, all in the name of charity.

Guests were treated to Cathy Fitzpatrick Cleary’s lively image presentation on fashion for every body type. A hip runway fashion followed showcasing the season’s up and coming trends from fashion maven, Todd Ramos.

Boutique Hopping – Poshak

Episode-1: Alesha’s Corner

In her quest to learn about Indian fashion Your Look host Alesha hops into Poshak boutique here on Hillcroft Ave, Houston, Texas. Initially, she was a little lost amidst all the wonderful designs but fashion designer Sameera at the store walked her through. Sameera told our viewers about the dos and don’ts of fashion.

The store boosts to specialize in salwar kameezs but their saree and lehenga collection cannot be ignored. The jamawar embroidered sarees caught Alesha’s eye. By the way as you enter the store do not miss the cool chappals that can either be worn with a hip pair of capris, a tunic or kurti and don’t forget those jhumkas (chandelier earrings).

The main highlight of Poshak is its interior decoration and an organized couture. The grand finale turned out a lot of fun as to when Alesha confessed that she had never worn a saree. She was tied down with one!

Put The Pieces Together

Let’s start with the bare essentials. Ladies before you slip in those fabulous garments make sure you have invested in a spa or a home manicure and pedicure. It is a must for summer. Wear some sexy undergarments like this one, a Calvin Klein lavender push up for just $16.99 at TJ MAX and lacy underwear for only $3.00

Well one’s you feel sexy inside lets put some items together to give that fashionable look. In this picture I got this celebrity look for under $50. The key to looking chic and stylish is doing some window shopping and when you have some extra bucks just go get them.

I picked these cute petite jeans from Sears for $20 paired them up with a $5.99 Old Navy brown Tee around my neck bight turquoise and brown necklace from New York and Company for $4.99. Its summer so you can slip in white sandals or even black pumps. A big bag if you like to carry a lot of stuff. Here I am carrying my favorite silver Guess.

Option: You can also have a skirt around if jeans make you warm. The perks of window shopping. This perfect for summer printed skirt from Macy’s in just $14.99.
